THE CLIENT
Annee de Mamiel is an acupuncturist, aroma therapist and healing holistic facialist. The de Mamiel skincare range has been created using the ancient principles of Chinese medicine along with modern scientific research into how ingredients interact with our bodies. Each product is hand crafted and contains the purest natural and organic ingredients, carefully sourced for their unique potency. All blends are individually created to capture the energetic, skin nourishing properties of plants.
THE TASK
Re-developing the existing logo and flower icon to be sharper and to reproduce better on packaging and directly on glass. Re-design the bottles across the range, keeping it stylish and modern with an ancient Chinese influence. To meet all legal packaging requirements.
THE SOLUTION
The logo had recently been updated from the original heavier serif font to a light, distressed, classical serif font which was not reproducing well in the print process – especially on uncoated stocks. To keep the recognized logo, we took it through a subtle evolution using a well cut, serif font and really working on spatial relationships within the lettering.
The original flowers were worked on to rebalance the weight of the lines and give more options in usage – improving and moving forward the brand but retaining the original established feel.
Instead of using a printed sticker labeling system, the black glass bottles were printed onto directly with the new design. A thin, silver keyline holds the de Mamiel logo, product name and information together with the pale blue flower icon breaking through the top of the line. Giving the bottle a distinctive look.
Designs for hardboard cartons using uncoated stock were created to give the feel of an artisan product. Stickers for sealing purposes, a care leaflet for the product range and directions, notecards and compliment slips were all designed to fit the range.
